And the Last Scotch Ever to Appear on "Mad Men" is.......

I wish I could say this sighting was was particularly interesting.  I wish I could say this scene featured a very rare or sought after brand of scotch. I wish I could tell you Andy fought the good fight and the sisters let him be.

Alas, the final scotch sighting from AMC's Mad Men is pretty uneventful.  I actually had to edit two scenes together (out of chronological order) in order for you to be able to see the actual bottle.  Around 18 minutes into episode 12 of season 7, Joan (Christina Hendricks) is given a glass of scotch poured from an indiscernible bottle.  Later on, near the end of the episode, Joan meets with Roger Sterling (John Slattery) in her office.  This is when we can clearly see that the bottle on her table is none other than The Glenlivet.  This is one of many Glenlivet appearances throughout the 7 seasons of Mad Men.  Hope you enjoyed it as little as I did.

Here's what an actual 12 year Glenlivet from that era looks like, courtesy of Master of Malt.

Nick Offerman Drinks Lagavulin in Front of a Fireplace for 45 Minutes

Nick Offerman slowly drinks some Lagavulin 16 in front of a cozy fireplace for 45 minutes of silent, uninterrupted greatness in a "Yule Log" video by "My Tales of Whisky", a collaborative YouTube channel by Diageo and Offerman.

And if you really wanna dive down the rabbit hole, here are the five Lagavulin sightings from Parks & Recreation featuring Offerman.  Number 5 is not to be missed.

Here's the Third Chivas Sighting from AMC's "Mad Men"

Check out this quick clip featuring a vintage Chivas bottle from Mad Men season 7 episode 10.  I posted a J&B sighting about 6 months ago and thought it would be the last Mad Men scene ever, considering the series was winding to a close.  Little did I know there would be TWO more sightings before the curtain came down.

Another Great Mad Men Chivas Sighting

Glenlivet and Chivas Spotted in Mad Men

Our next post will feature the absolute final 100% definitely last scotch sighting ever to take place on Mad Men ever ever ever.  And, to be honest, it was kind of underwhelming.  Stay tuned.

And don't forget, our friends at Master of Malt can always hook you up with the real thing!  Vintage 1970s Chivas in original box

Ben Stiller & Ad Rock Split a Bottle of Talisker in "While We're Young"

We hadn't had any Talisker appearances on over 4 years. Then BAM...two in a row!  Hopefully there will be many more from now on.  There have been scotch sightings featuring Ben Stiller in the past and even a brief sighting with legendary Beastie Boy Ad Rock (aka Adam Horovitz, aka King Ad Whammy, aka Sharp Cheddar) himself, but this is the first time seeing these two friends together in the same film.

The sighting takes place a little over an hour into While We're Young.  I gotta say I loved this film from beginning to end.  Everything just seems to work here.  Each character (like them or not) seemed as relatable as the humor in one way or another.  It's definitely nice to see a film about something other than explosions and cars once in a while.  Call me crazy.  Anyway, check out the clip and click here to grab yourself some sweet (yet salty) Talisker, if you're so inclined.

Long Awaited Talisker Sighting in "Bar Rescue"

It has been more than two years since the last Bar Rescue scotch sighting, which is rather surprising considering it is a show about drinking establishments.  This Talker appearance is from way back in season 3.  Episode 18 entitled "A Bar Full of Bull" features a clip of Peter O'Connor (Diageo's master or whiskey) showing the bar's staff how to make a Bloody Mary with Talisker.

Johnny Walker Black Label Appearance in Bar rescue

The Talisker sightings on this site have been few and far between.  Hopefully we won't have to wait 4 years for the next one to come along.  Click here to pick up a bottle for yourself in the meantime

Every Johnnie Walker Blue Label Sighting in "True Detective" Season 2

Here's a 7 minute supercut of every Johnnie Walker Blue Label appearance from season 2 of the HBO series True Detective. The video was originally 15 minutes long but once I cut out the long shots of people staring at each other and not talking, it became 5 minutes shorter.  Then I managed to shave off another 3 minutes by removing most of the overhead shots of bridges, freeways, and off-ramps.  After that all I was basically left with was people arguing while drinking Johnnie Blue.

A Brief Macallan Sighting from HBO's True Detective

Johnny Walker Black Label Spotted in True Detective

Let's hope season 3 has many many more scenes of people mumbling and whispering or having no emotional reaction to something horrific happening right in front of them.  Maybe they could cut the dialogue down to 6 or 7 lines per episode and have a lot more sub-plots involving paperwork and real estate contracts.  Fingers crossed.

Samuel L. Jackson Sips 1962 Dalmore in "Kingsman: The Secret Service"

I never thought I'd see Luke Skywalker and Mace Windu in the same scene, yet here it is.  It's great to see a movie starring both Mark Hamill and Samuel L. Jackson, but I'm even more excited about the $137,000 1962 Dalmore which shows up at around the 6:30 mark.  Check out the clip above.  This is also the first Dalmore sighting in four years.  The last one was from the movie Malice.

Normally I would add a link to Master of Malt so you could purchase your own bottle.  Somehow I think that would be pointless in this particular case so here's the link to buy some more reasonably priced Dalmore expressions:

A Fantastic Johnnie Walker Blue Label Appearance in the Season 2 Premiere of "True Detective"

The one you've been waiting for.  True Detective season 2 is finally here and it really delivers.  The premiere episode is not to be missed, if for no other reason than this amazing scene which takes place near the end.  The clip above has been edited down a bit to avoid spoilers but you may want to wait until after you've watched the full episode before checking it out.

This is the most Blue Label I've ever seen a person drink in one sitting.  I'm actually kinda jealous.

Will Ferrell Sips Johnnie Walker Blue Label in "Get Hard"

Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart definitely brought their A-game to this 2015 comedy.  The film only got a 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes for some reason but I found it enjoyable from beginning to end.  The Johnnie Walker Blue Label sighting takes place near the beginning and and the scene also features Craig T. Nelson.  Also, since the most famous scotch scene of all time features Will Ferrell as well, I have reposted it at the bottom.

Megan Draper Drinking J&B in "Mad Men"

Here's a short scene from season 7 episode 9 of AMC's Mad Men which features Don's ex-wife Megan (Jessica Pare) sipping some J&B.  We've had appearances by Chivas, Cutty Sark, Balvenie, Johnnie Walker, and Glenlivet in previous episodes.  Could this be the last scotch sighting form this series ever? Stay tuned.  And click here to check out the previous Mad Men posts.

Entourage's Johnny Drama Repping Johnnie Walker on "Jimmy Kimmel Live"

Once in a blue moon the universe drops something amazing in my lap.  This is one of those rare instances.  One of my favourite TV characters of all time promoting one of the greatest beverages of all time.  This hilarious new Johnnie Walker ad features Kevin Dillon (aka Johnny Chase aka Johnny Drama) appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live and announcing that he is the "face of Johnnie Walker".  Be sure and watch the whole thing to the end and, more importantly, be sure to drop what ever your doing and head out to see the long-awaited Entourage movie which is now in theatres.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dillon a couple of years ago and we chatted about his character over a bottle of Highland Park (there was no Blue Label anywhere in sight, unfortunately) and had a few laughs.  Can't say enough about what a great dude he was.  Kind of like his character but more intelligent and less cocky.

Crazy Horse Bar.  Ottawa, Ontario

Johnny Walker definitely did their homework when deciding which character would be great for their brand promotion.  Here's proof.  The clip below is a scene from Entourage which aired back in August of 2010 and features Drama pledging his loyalty to Blue Label way back then.

BONUS SIGHTING!  Here's another scotch sighting from an Entourage episode which aired exactly one year later.  This one finds a very intoxicated Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) diving to the bottom of a bottle of Chivas while his life is going down the toilet.  It is worth watching if for no other reason than he drops the F-bomb 7 times in 24 seconds.  Enjoy!

Here's a MARVEL-ous Glenlivet Sighting From the Netflix Series "Daredevil"

It's been quite a while since we've had ourselves a bona-fide Glenlivet appearance.   The previous sighting was from House of Cards.  Another great Netflix original series.  This clip takes place at the very end of episode 12.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label: A Super Scotch For Supergirl

By popular demand, here is the Johnnie Walker Blue Label appearance from the series premiere of CBS's Supergirl.  The scene takes place about 15 minutes into the episode.

Porn Star-Flavored Whisky. Yes, You Read That Correctly

I'm not really sure where to begin.  Ummm...alright here goes. So apparently there is a company called Whisky X which has invented something called "body blending" which, according to the commercials seems to mean that porn stars are showering with whisky before it is bottled.  I assume that this means the whisky will taste somewhat like the lovely ladies in the ads.  I also assume it will taste like two or three thousand men as well.

The porn stars in question are Joy Van Velsen and Tori Black.  I recall seeing Ms. Black's name in the news a few years back when she got arrested for being drunk in a Las Vegas hotel and beating up her boyfriend because he ran out of baby formula.  Let's hope he didn't pour that in the whisky too.

Call me old fashioned but when I'm enjoying a nice glass of Macallan or Lagavulin, the last thing I'm interested in tasting with it essence of AVN starlet.  This kind of thing might turn me off to whisky all together and make me switch to rum.

on second thought

Here's the latest Whisky X commercial which was filmed at my favourite hotel on Earth, The Aria in Las Vegas.  So that means TWO things I love got ruined today.  The commercial should end with LVPD kicking in the hotel room door.

Mmmm. Tastes like peaty tears!

Here's The Whiskey Category From Last Week's Jeopardy!

I rarely miss an episode of Jeopardy and it was great to see this category pop up during the episode which aired on May 19th.  A few whiskies (Jim Beam, Johnnie Walker, Jack Daniel's, and Russell's Reserve) were mentioned in the category too.  Care to guess which answer I got wrong?

LAGAVULIN WEEK: Here's Every Glorious Lagavulin Sighting From "Parks & Recreation"

This wasn't easy.  There have been many Lagavulin mentions and appearances throughout the 7 season of the brilliant NBC comedy Parks and Recreation.  I believe what you are about to watch is the final tally of all of the sightings of this peaty bad boy.  There have been rumors of another sighting from season 3 but I've yet to find it.  If anyone out there is aware of this elusive scene please let me know and it'll be added immediately.  Here we go.

LAGAVULIN WEEK: Harrison Ford Drinking Lagavulin in "Hollywood Homicide"

This scene begins at the 18:29 mark when Detective Joe Gavalin (Ford) comes home from a long day's work and cracks open a bottle of Lagavulin.  There is also a bottle of Balvenie Doublewood clearly visible in the scene.

His lady friend Ruby (Lena Olin) joins him later in the clip.  Be sure to watch it all the way to the end.  Looks like Ford enjoys donuts almost as much as he enjoys single malts.

LAGAVULIN WEEK: A Spooky Lagavulin Sighting in "Friday the 13th"

This is from the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th.  The scene is a little dark but still pretty funny.
