Mystery Malt in an Episode of AMC's "The Killing"

This clip was sent to me a few months ago and I'm finally getting around to posting it.  The person who sent the clip was able to identify the particular brand of scotch in the scene but I'll be damned if I can remember.  If anyone would like to take a guess then please let me know in the comments section or on Twitter or Facebook.  The sighting is from episode 10 of this season entitled "I'll Let You Know When I Get There".

Another Mcallan 18 Appearance in "NCIS"

Here's the second Macallan 18 sighting from NCIS.  This one features Robert Wagner in a guest starring role. The sighting is from the twelfth episode from season seven entitled Flesh and Blood.  The previous Macallan appearance was from waaaaay back in season two.  Click here to check it out.

These Macallan sightings are few and far between so feel free to forward them to me if you spot any.  Lord knows it makes my job a lot easier.  Not that I don't like doing the research but there's nothing better than checking my email/Twitter every morning and finding some new sightings from you fine folks.  Keep 'em coming!

Lagavulin in "Parks & Recreation" (Part 4)

Here is the fourth Lagavulin sighting from Parks and Recreation.  It is actually the fifth scotch sighting by the way.  Some of you might remember the North Port sighting I posted last year.  Click here to check it out.

The scene below Features Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) shaming Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott) into drinking the Lagavulin by telling him that "Clear alcohols are for rich women on diets".  Classic line.

This clip is from last week's episode entitled "Win, Lose, or Draw".

Lagavulin in "Parks & Recreation" (Part 3)

It's been a while but we finally have another Lagavulin 16 sighting from Parks and Recreation.  The scene of course features Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman) sharing his drink of choice.  This time with his co-worker Chris Traeger (played by Rob Lowe).

Big thanks to Kevin for sending along this sighting.  Believe it or not, there is a FOURTH Lagavulin sighting from last week's episode coming up next.  The scene below is from season 4 episode 19 entitled "Live Ammo".

Cutty Sark in a Scene From "Mad Men"

Here's our third* scotch sighting from AMC's "Mad Men".  Previously we've seen an appearances from Johnnie Walker Red Label, Chivas and Glenlivet.  Last Sunday's episode featured a scene in which Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce's head of finance and recent Partner Lane Pryce (Jared Harris) does some shady financial wheelin' and dealin' over a bottle of Cutty Sark.

Check out the scene below and click here for the previous Cutty Sark clip. Don't forget to like Scotch Cinema on Facebook.

*There were four different brands in Mad Men over all but the Chivas and Glenlivet appeared in the same episode/post so I am only counting them as one.  Are we cool?

Oban 14 in "Butterfly on a Wheel" (aka "Shattered")

It is never a good sign when a film company can't even decide on a title for their movie.  I've personally seen this film listed under the names Shattered, Desperate Hours, and simply The Butterfly.  It grossed $20,000,000 at the box office when it came out in 2007 which means 2,000,000 people paid $10 to see it in theaters.  Let me know if you've ever met one of them.  In all fairness, this move is actually pretty damn good.  Some fine acting and great plot twists.  It is also well paced and the director does a great job of ratcheting up the tension.

SPOILER ALERT: The Oban appears at 1:22:00 in the film during a scene in which a major plot point is revealed.

"My Safe Word Is Whiskeeeeeyyyyyy!"

Let me begin by saying that I actually bought a ticket and saw this movie in the theater back in 2007.  I had forgotten how much I actually enjoyed it at the time.  There are some absolutely ridiculous scenes in this movie.  One of which you are about to see below.  Hot Rod is a great example of The Lonely Island's comedy style which they brought to Saturday Night Live as well as their two albums.

I thought I'd post this scene because of the whiskey mention.  I also love how it degenerates into mindless violence toward the end. Don't forget to keep sending you whisky-related sightings to scotchcinema@gmail.com.

Two Scotch Sightings in 2007's "Mr. Woodcock"

Here are two scenes from Mr. Woodcoock starring Billy Bob Thornton, Sean William Scott, and Amy Poehler.  Pohler's character is seen drinking nearly every time she appears on screen.  In the two particular scenes she is drinking some J&B at a bar and Black Label mini bottles on a plane.  The scnes take place and the 5 and 40 minute marks in the film.

Lots of hilarious performances in this film.  Including a comedic turn from Susan Sarandon who plays Sean WIlliam Scott's mother.  Check out the clip below.

Lagavulin (and Balvenie?) in "The Big Bang Theory"

Here's some scotch-related clips from last week's episode of The Big Bang Theory entitled "The Stag Convergence".  The episode centers around Howard's bachelor party where several guests are sipping scotch.  Sheldon Cooper especially.  Though he seems to have a very low tolerance for whisky. It is difficult to see what the bartender is pouring for Sheldon at the beginning of the clip. Though two SC viewers claim it is a bottle of Balvenie.

A bottle of Lagavulin can clearly be seen over Kripke's shoulder in a later scene but the bottle is much darker than the earlier one used by the bartender.  Let us know what you think.

Don't forget to catch the season finale of The Big Bang Theory on May 10th.
